Poppy Lawson believes Hibs ‘absolutely’ deserved to return to the capital with a point on Sunday evening.

Grant Scott’s side trailed Glasgow City by two at Petershill Park, but a well-taken finish by Jordan Baucom after 80 minutes pulled Hibs back into the game late on.

With time running out, Hibs piled on the pressure and Lawson popped up with a sublime stoppage-time equaliser to earn Hibs an overdue draw.

“Did we deserve to win? Probably not. Did we deserve a point on the road? Absolutely,” Poppy told Hibs TV.

“You could see in the final 20 minutes we were piling the pressure on at 2-0 down. Jorian comes up with a fantastic finish and then I find myself in the right area; I strike the ball and fortunately it goes in.

“I think I just bring it on myself to go and do something, to go and make myself busy. As soon as it’s left my foot I knew it was going in. It’s a great feeling.”

Lawson claims a change in shape and some smart substitutions helped Hibs to pull off the impressive comeback.

“You could probably tell we changed shape for the second half and that just allowed us to be a bit more patient in the build-up. And it allowed us to have more bodies. We gained possession in the second half and we fought to the end, which is what we are all about.

“Shiv was fantastic when she came on, she done everything that was asked of her. She’s a player that can put the ball in behind and Tweedie was there. When Tweeds touched it down for my goal, it was a perfect touch.”

Next up for the Hibees is a Friday night Edinburgh Derby at Meadowbank, which Lawson insists the team will be up for.

“It’s a bit of quick turnaround. We’re ready to go and we’ll be prepared for it.”
