MLS sets date to pick expansion cities, including verdict on Nashville's bid

Nashville is pushing to bring a MLS team to Nashville and building a stadium helps their chances. Major League Soccer will hold its annual Board of Governors meeting in New York on Dec. 14, with plans to announce two expansion teams before the end of the year, likely between Dec. 18 and Dec. 21.  MLS confirmed the dates to The Tennessean. The one-month waiting period comes as Nashville is now widely seen as a favorite to land one of the two expansion teams after the Nashville Metro Council last week approved $225 million in bond funding for a $275 million soccer-specific stadium project.  Twelve cities are in the hunt for MLS' next round of expansion, with Sacramento considered the clear front-runner
