David Gray dedicated tonight’s win over Motherwell to Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson who played their final game at Easter Road in Hibs green and white.

The pair will end their time at the Club in the summer having amassed over 1,100 appearances together, and appeared on the pitch next to each other as the Hibees beat the Well 3-0.

When speaking after the game, Interim Head Coach David Gray spoke of his delight for the pair.

“The message before the game was that we wanted a reaction from the weekend and it was great we were able to deliver that, but ultimately tonight was about Lewy and Paul.

“I’m delighted they managed to get a clean sheet, they will be proud of that, and it was a send-off they deserved because of how much they put into the football club.

“They’ve dedicated their lives and whole careers to Hibs, and they full deserved that.”

Hibs ran out comfortable winners after a brace from Martin Boyle and a strike from Myziane Maolida.

Gray was full of praise for his players’ effort and application.

“The Club came together tonight after a really disappointing result on Sunday. To go from there to where we were tonight is a credit to everyone involved.

“I was really pleased with the performance. We know that this result doesn’t fix things, so no-one is in the dressing room delighted because we have underachieved this season, but nights like tonight and being rewarded for the effort we put in is exactly what we’re looking for.

“Focus now fully moves to the next game, which is Livingston on Sunday.”
